About Erin Conservation Area

The Erin Conservation Area is located in Cole County near Jefferson City, Missouri. Encompassing approximately 1,040 acres, the area features a diverse mix of upland hardwood forests, dry glades, open fields, and riparian corridors along tributaries of the Missouri River. The terrain includes rolling hills with limestone bluffs and ravines supporting a variety of native Missouri flora and fauna. Established and managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation, this area serves as habitat for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bobwhite quail, and several species of songbirds, amphibians, and reptiles. Several spring-fed streams run through the conservation area, creating habitats important for aquatic species and providing fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass and sunfish. Visitors enjoy approximately 12 miles of maintained multi-use trails suitable for hiking, wildlife viewing, and horseback riding. The trails traverse different ecological communities that highlight regional biodiversity. In addition to outdoor recreation, the area is a spot for seasonal hunting including deer and turkey during regulated seasons.
